With the rise of an ageing population, the role of Geriatrics (prevention and treatment of diseases and disabilities in later life) has become increasingly important. In developed countries like the United Kingdom, the benefits of a good geriatric service are widely recognized. Dr RAJBANS Singh is a graduate of the University of Mysore with hospital appointments in Manipal (India), Kuching, Banting, Klang, Seremban and other parts of Malaysia. However, his expertise lies in Geriatrics backed by extensive experience in the UK.

Dr RAJBANS holds a Diploma in Geriatric Medicine from London and was the Honorary Registrar in Cardiff Royal Group of Hospitals and Holme Tower, Marie Curie from 1994 to 1995. During this time, he worked in the Cardiff Royal Group of Hospitals (High Dependency Unit) with Professor Ken Woodhouse, the University Hospital of Wales (General Geriatric ward) under Dr Dwarak Sastry, memory clinics, palliative medicine, stroke units, bone clinics, psychogeriatric rotation and other areas related to care for the elderly. In 1997, Dr RAJBANS served as Consultant Physician and Geriatrician at Seremban General Hospital. And in 2000, he joined University Putra Malaysia as Senior Lecturer in Medicine and Head of the Geriatric Unit.

Dr RAJBANS has attended numerous conferences and courses on Geriatrics around the world. He has also developed various proposals, lectures and publications covering areas such as healthy ageing, influenza vaccination in the elderly, elderly care services, nutrition and memory status. His special interests, however, lie in Memory Clinics for the elderly, rehabilitation of the elderly for osteoarthritis, stroke and Parkinson’s Disease, palliative care for the terminally ill and training of medical staff in elderly care. Dr RAJBANS also has a special focus on anti-ageing research, preventative healthcare and wellness programmes, having started the healthy ageing unit at Pantai Medical Centre.

Dr RAJBANS is currently the Consultant Physician and Geriatrician at Pantai Medical Centre, Bangsar and Visiting Consultant at KLSMC, Assunta Hospital, Apollo Medical Centre and Gleneagles Intan Medical Centre.
