Everything is in the same building and you don't have to go to different places for different treatment.

Fauziah has been having problems with her knees for years and has been a loyal patient of Dr Saw’s since 1997. So when he came over to KLSMC, she started coming to the hospital as well. “Here is better because they have physiotherapy,” she says. “Everything is in the same building and you don't have to go to different places for different treatment.”

In March 2007, Fauziah underwent arthroscopic surgery and cartilage repair on her left knee and in December she did the same procedure on her right. What was unique about the treatment this time was the use of stem cell therapy. At first, Fauziah was hesitant about the whole process as this was a very new procedure but Dr Saw explained everything thoroughly – about how the stem cells were taken from her own body and would be used to stimulate cartilage regrowth.

Fauziah learned how effective the recovery could be and was determined to give it a try. Five months later, she is on the mend and enjoying her physiotherapy treatment tremendously. “All the staff are so friendly and helpful,” she comments. She also has praises for the physiotherapy unit which she describes as extremely spacious – “you have the whole floor to yourself.”

But best of all, Fauziah says she likes the food. “They don't serve hospital food here,” she whispers. “It comes from the cafe downstairs.” It's no secret that the hospital menu comprises cafe-standard western and local cuisine such as nasi lemak, cappuccino and gourmet sandwiches. Fauziah recommends the Teriyaki Salmon, but it's all good, she says.
